The Next Bioluminescent Night is August 12th! Our night kayak tour changes with the lunar cycle. 🌙🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑 During a new moon, the darker skies create ideal conditions to see bio-luminescence glowing in the water. Under a full moon, the tour offers a different king of magic with moonlight reflecting across the water and illuminating the surrounding scenery.

Ahoy Mateys! 🏴‍☠️ The OBX Pirate Festival is this Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Nags Head, Jockey's Ridge Kitty Hawk Kites location. Throughout the Day enjoy living history demonstrations, photo opportunities with pirates and themed displays, pirate-themed entertainment, acoustic performances and announcements, shopping, treats, and summer fun, see you there!

One of our senior chefs has pressing family issues which requires him unexpectedly to return home at the end of this month. We are therefore seeking one of three things:

- experienced chefs looking to pick up a few shifts a week in September and October as a member of our top flight BOH crew.

- an experienced chef looking for a home in our community. Year round housing is available for the right candidate.

- a young person looking to develop a career in our community, ready to be trained as a professional chef. Year round housing is available for the right candidate.

We’re getting August started off right. Earlier in the week we found some nice dolphin, and there are still plenty of tilefish around. The floating grass that usually holds dolphin has been pretty scarce since the Sunday/Monday blow, but we’re hoping it returns soon.

The billfishing is definitely starting to heat up. Yesterday was one of our best days in a while. We probably raised 20 or more fish, releasing 8 sailfish and 5 white marlin. Today we had a little tougher luck holding onto them, but we still released a blue marlin and one of two white marlin. We also pulled the hooks on three sailfish. That’s just part of billfishing. We’ll get another shot at them tomorrow.

The weather looks great as far out as I can see, so hopefully we’ll be able to keep the momentum going. Back at it tomorrow.
