We are thrilled to introduce our new ANCHOR BUFFALO WINGS!! What is “Anchor Buffalo,” you ask? It’s the ORIGINAL BUFFALO WING SAUCE created by Teressa Bellissimo one serendipitous night in 1964 at Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, when her son Dominic wanted to feed his hungry friends who wandered in after closing time.

Everything had been put away for the night except for some chicken wings — which at the time were only used for soup stock — as well as some celery & blue cheese dressing. Teressa quickly whipped up a spicy sauce for the wings, and VOILA! A legend was born….a legend which inadvertently launched a global phenomenon.

At Lost Colony Tavern, we slowly bake our jumbo wings for juiciness and then finish them in the fryer for a crispy skin, then toss them in Teressa’s original sauce sent to us every week directly from Buffalo, along with chopped celery spears and chunky blue cheese dressing just like Teressa Bellissimo served them on that very first night in 1964.

On January 1st of this past year, we launched our new business with a special New Year’s Day supper featuring the traditional foods that are said to bring you health, wealth, fortune & luck in the New Year. This coming Sunday, WE’RE DOING IT AGAIN with a special menu designed to set you up for success in 2023! Whether you choose the Country Ham & Collards or Corned Beef & Cabbage, you’ll enjoy both options with black-eyed peas, stewed tomatoes, and skillet cornbread. Walk-ins are welcome and very limited reservations are available by calling us at (252) 423-3033. And of course, we’ll be open the night before on New Year’s Eve with LIVE MUSIC & CHAMPAGNE until 2AM! Come join us this weekend and ring in the New Year in style!!

2022 Half Marathoner Edie Fallon received her medal and proudly displayed it. She's gearing up to run in the Flying Pirate Half Marathon in April, 2023.

We have to agree with Santa Claus on this one: “Christmas Eve is when you spend time with your family.” To enable our incredible staff to spend time with their families, Lost Colony Tavern will always be closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. We are still processing the loss of a big part of our family…Chef Lovey! An amazing cook, a loyal friend, & Auntie Boo to our kids!

When we reopened 15years ago after losing our Mom to cancer and our restaurant to the fire, Lovey joined our family. We had grown up with and around Lovey and most of her family. She was a huge part of our Family! Her amazing humor, infectious smile, & fun loving personality will be missed beyond words!

If you have enjoyed a Pan Seared Fish or Pasta over the years, she more than likely was on the other side of that plate! Her talent on our line will be missed by all of us at the Lone Cedar!!
