Manatees Sighed -- One RED DRUM released. Winds NW at 13 knots. Air temp 52 degrees, ocean water temp 70 degrees. High tides 7:37 a.m. and 7:58 p.m. Low tide 2:05 p.m. A group of manatees were seen in Southern Shores canals recently. If you see a manatee, please call the Outer Banks Marine Mammal Stranding Network at 252-455-9654.

Somehow we blinked and summer is over. Just kidding, summer is never over when you're on the pier. We’ve got all of our local beers on special today for $1 off along with our GOAT burger (fresh angus burger topped with lettuce, tomato, goat cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, and a house-made Dijon barbecue sauce). Happy hour from 4-6 pm and live music later tonight with Jeremy & The Generations from 6-9 pm. This is our last week of scheduled music, so if you, “haven’t made it down to Fishheads all season,” well now is the time. See y’all soon!

"Mocha was very wild and rangy, blind in one eye, and tough as nails. She lived most of her life in the marsh and we didn’t see her too often. She was the kind of horse you feel guilty touching even after death, because she would have never wanted nor tolerated that in life. This morning there was a rainbow right over the spot where Mocha died. We’d like to think it was a thank-you for respecting her wildness and letting her live and die with the dignity she deserved, and a reminder to stay hopeful for the future of this herd."

We are always so appreciative of the work they do and the heartache they carry.
