Joe caught some Pups today on a very special rod. One that was built for him by Jerry Harris. We shared a post from a friend yesterday about Jerry's passing. If you didn't see it, Jerry used to build rods in the back room of Whalebone Tackle (where our shop now sits on the causeway)

The rods he built could be found on lots of charter boats and caught fish all around the world. He was a staple in our fishing community. His craftsmanship was something of beauty. He will be missed by many
His spirit will live on as his works of art continue to help his friends catch fish! Tight Lines Jerry.

Thousands of sea birds have been feeding on baitfish, perhaps menhaden, all morning long. Around a dozen surf fishermen are jigging for slot RED DRUM on the northside. No one is fishing on the pier yet, but it's forecasted to be a warm day. Currently, air temp 45 degrees, and the water temp is 43 degrees. High tide 6:58 a.m. Low tide 1:28 p.m. Winds are SW at 10 knots. Gift shop is closed for inventory today.

It's pretty awesome when we get a warmer day this time of year, especially when the fish cooperate!

Anglers have been lined up in the surf and on the piers catching slot Drum left and right... Alot of catch and release happening, but a few might be making it to the dinner plate.

Our friend Murph caught and RELEASED a 6lb Citation Trout today. Pretty work Bud.

We hope to see the Drum thru the weekend!

Bluefins and Kings offshore... and a AWESOME Puppy Drum bite in the surf. Reports of some Anglers catching as many as 40 pups... that's a good day.

Dozens of PUPPY DRUM were all around the Pier today. Pier volunteer, Tony, holds up a nice slot drum he caught and kept for dinner. Surf casters had their fun too catching and releasing mostly because each angler can only keep one a day and the fish most be inside the slot of 18 to 27 inches to be legal. At one point, there were 20 anglers on the beach and another handful on the Pier #tightlinestoall
