What does this mean for your OBX Vacation?

As many areas across the country are struggling to find help in the food, service, and entertainment industries, the Outer Banks is no different. As "help wanted" signs remain prominently posted on billboards and windows across the island, local businesses are working harder than ever to keep up quality service for increasing demand. Some stores have even begun limiting hours and lowering guest capacity to control current demand while lessening the intense work conditions placed upon employees.

Increased wait times can already be seen at grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and more, and vacationers should expect even longer delays as the season approaches with record-breaking occupancy rates.

With this said, here are some suggestions for your OBX Vacation:

- Always check online or call ahead prior to dining out to learn current hours and any restrictions that may be in place. Also, see if reservations can be made at your favorite restaurants.
- Take advantage of mobile ordering when available. Many restaurants now offer take-out, and most coffee shops have also implemented a mobile ordering system to make your food-pickups seamless.
- Have your groceries delivered to your rental home. Most of the grocery stores on the Outer Banks now offer online ordering with delivery or curb-side pick-up. However, never schedule your food to arrive to your rental home prior to you physically checking in.
- Plan more home-cooked meals. Each of our rental homes are stocked with a full kitchen, and if you ever find a home short on kitchen-ware, let Cove Realty know so that items can be immediately re-stocked for your cooking needs.
