Event Description:

Visit the park's latest traveling exhibit, NC Digs!, this spring in the Ticket Sales Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. NC Digs features five types of archaeological sites in North Carolina—Native American, battlefield, plantation, trash pit, and industrial—along with a tool and technique important to excavating or analyzing each.

An interactive panel, entitled “Reading the Clues” will allow participants to delve further into learning about archaeologists’ tricks of the trade. A children’s archaeological dig and other activities, as well as encased artifacts from the Office of State Archaeology Lab, are open to guests.

This free exhibit is open Tuesday - Saturday in the Ticket Sales Gallery this spring. The exhibit is on loan and made possible by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources - Division of Education and Outreach.
