Wine Tasting: Italy, the Far North & the Far South
This week we will visit two of Italy’s wine regions. Our journey will take us from the Piedmont in the north, to Calabria in the far south. Calabria often flies under the radar as one of the lesser-known wine areas of this great wine producing country. This will be a study of the contrast in styles and varieties of indigenous grapes.
We will experience one winery in each of these regions. Meet Guidobono of the Piedmont… an ambitious winemaking project born in the heart of the Roero and Langhe hills. We will sample distinguished wines to include white, Nebbiolo and Barolo.
In Calabria, the toe of the boot, we will sample unique native grapes made into white, rosé and red wines by the Scala family. All with an organic focus.
A cheese and charcuterie plate will accompany the wines to enhance your wine experience.
