It’s back to school week for our local community, but a lot of you spent your last days of summer vacation fishing! And it was the perfect weekend for it!

Surf fishing has been more of the same. We weighed in some nice citation sea mullet this weekend along with reports of some Spot, Bluefish, rays and sharks. The southern beaches had some Pompano, Spanish Mackerel and False Albacore caught on lures.

The piers have had great conditions with some Spanish, False Albacore, Bluefish, Ribbonfish, Sea Mullet and Spot. We’re still seeing some Triggerfish and Sheepshead on the piers, bridges and inshore wrecks. There are still a few bigger fish around as well. There have been reports of sightings of some tarpon and king mackerel with Avon Pier catching one over the weekend.

Inshore anglers and boats fishing in the sound continue to catch Drum, Bluefish, and Speckled Trout. Jed Dixon with @absolut_charters sent us a pretty Blue caught over the weekend. Gray Miller caught a Puppy Drum during a beautiful sunset! Shop Employee Maggie’s future son-in-law caught a nice Puppy Drum Wade fishing over the weekend as well!

The Kitty Hawk crew took advantage of some time off recently! @drumbumobx caught some nice King Mackerel while Drum Bum Jr. caught a Sheepshead!
