Big Drum, Giant Trout, Jumbo Tilefish
Good weather and great fishing this holiday weekend! Big Drum from the Surf, giant Trout in the sound, jumbo Tilefish offshore, and even a few King Mackerel caught from the piers!
The Peake Fishing crew sent us in some pictures of a couple really nice Drum off of the north beach! It's not very often we get the big Drum around in the summer, but we will take it. We have also received reports of Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Sea Mullet, Puppy Drum, and a few nice Pompano being caught from the surf.
Nags head and Jennettes Pier have both reported a few King Mackerel bites on live bait fishermen on the ends of the piers. Along with the Kings, we have reports of Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Spot, Croaker, and small Sea Bass!
Offshore has been good, we have seen excellent catches of Tuna some days and limits of Big Tilefish on the others!
The nearshore fleet has had good luck with Triggerfish, Spanish Mackerel, and Ribbonfish. While the folks fishing in the sound have continued to have catches of monster Speckled Trout and Puppy Drum. Dylan Price sent us a photo of a 31" Speckled Trout he landed on his Kayak wile fishing near Stumpy Point!
