Surf Fishing Report:
I am receiving questions about red matter in the surf and on the beaches. It is called Naked Butterfly Jellies. It can happen when the SW wind sweeps the bottom of the ocean and brings the jellies and the cold water to the surface. I have a picture sent from J. C. Dail.
Decent Sea Mullet and small Spot scattered. I should remind everyone the point open yesterday. There are some happy anglers.
The winds are SW at 5 and the water temp is 73 degrees. The water cleared, it’s flat and has warmed since yesterday.
Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Small Bottom fish and small Trout.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Spadefish.
Nags Head: Spadefish, Sea Mullet and Flounder.
Jennette’s: Spadefish, Sand Perch and Sea Mullet. Water temp is 68 degrees.
Outer Banks: Small Sheephead, Black Drum and several nice Sea Mullet from the wash.
Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore and inshore caught an incredible amount of Bluefish and Spanish. Also citation Red Drum measuring 48” and 44” releases and a 50 lb citation Cobia. Miss Oregon Inlet anglers caught sea mullet, puffers, flounder, pigs, pins, gray trout, sea bass, lizardfish, ribbonfish, and bluefish.
Offshore Boats Report:
Mahi Mahi showed up again yesterday in good numbers and some of the boats caught their limits. Fat Yellowfin were plentiful and some Wahoo were caught. There was a White Marlin release and a Blue Marlin release.
