Flounder Season Opener

TW’s Bait & Tackle, Flounder Season Opener
Tuesday, September 2, 2025
We hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful Labor Day Weekend! While it might be considered the unofficial end of summer, we are thrilled to enter what some call the locals summer!

Monday was opening day of Flounder season! The short season allows anglers to keep one a day at 15 inches. We have gigs and gig lights if you’re looking to stick one! Soundside fishing has been good for Bluefish, Puppy Drum, and Speckled Trout, and Flounder. If you’re looking to book a trip, check out @mott_ridge_charters and @saltywatersobxfishing for an amazing day catching Drum, Trout, and maybe even a Flounder!

The pier fishing has been a popular spot for anglers looking for a big Red Drum. There have been a few caught, but hopefully we’ll see more throughout the week. Shop employee Levi spent his afternoon on the pier and caught a nice 32incher. That smile says it all! There have also been some Sea Mullet and Bluefish caught from the piers as well.

The surf fishing has been good for anglers who find a good spot! There have been reports of Trout, Sea Mullet and Bluefish. Lots of pickers out there too so be sure to stop by the shop for plenty of fresh bait! Our coolers are full of fresh Mullet! Check out shop employee Maggie with an awesome Speckled Trout caught Friday evening!

The offshore fishing had a great start to the holiday weekend! There were plenty of Mahi around as well as good White Marlin fishing. There are some nice Blue Marlins around as well!
