Despite the summertime heat, we are still getting reports of some good fishing in areas! Surf and Pier fishing have both been productive this last week with the clear warm waters that have pushed in. Reports of Sea Mullet, Spot, Pompano, Small Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and other small bottom fish species have come from both the Piers and the Surf zone. We have also heard of a handful of large king Mackerel being landed off of each of the piers from Nags Head down to Avon!

With the water temps in the sound getting very warm, the fishing on the flats has slowed down a little. However, channel edges and deeper areas with moving water have continued to produce. We are getting reports of some big Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum, Black Drum, and Flounder from the sound side. Thomas Lisle of Olney, MD landed and released a nice Black Drum at the Little Bridge yesterday! We have also continued to hear of good catches of Sheepshead around the Bridges!

Offshore, there has been pretty good Dolphin fishing with a handful of nice Yellowfin and some Billfish mixed in. The nearshore fleet has reported King Mackerel, Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, and Ribbonfish!
