Offshore Fishing Picked up Big Time
Drum, Trout, Big Bluefish, and Citation Sea Mullet are all being caught in the surf right now! The Big Drum have been biting consistently at the Point this week, and Big Bluefish up to 10lbs have been caught from Ocracoke to the state line!
The piers have been reporting good catches of Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish on Got-cha Plugs. The best has been in the mornings and evenings. There has been a good run of Big Sea Mullet on all of the piers the last few days, as well as a few nice Puppy Drum!
Nearshore boats have started picking up a few Cobia up and down the beach and seeing some schools of Big Drum around Buxton. The Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish also bit pretty good yesterday for the boats trolling around the inlet!
On the sound side, there has been an excellent Bluefish bite going on with some bigger fish being caught on topwater lures! Along with the bluefish, there has been Drum around on the flats and some good size Trout being caught deeper in the sound!
Offshore fishing picked up big time yesterday with some boats catching a limit of Tuna before lunchtime! The Hatteras Village Offshore Open started yesterday with 4 Blue Marlin over 500 lbs being brought to the scales!
