Routine February Week

It’s been a routine February week full of cold weather and some dreadful wind. With the exciting prediction of an early spring made by the groundhog, we’ve been busy around the shop gearing up for warm weather, spring, and most importantly fishing!!

The Trout are still thumping in the sound when folks are able to venture out. Mott Ridge Charters, Hyde Guides and Fish Pleaze charters have had some recent luck! Other anglers are on the search for the Stripers tucked away in the sound with occasional success. Shop employee Jaden got 'em on his day off!

Unfortunately, surf fishing reports have been bleak due to the impact of the typical winter weather conditions. Skates and Dogfish are about all we’re seeing on the Northern beaches, but hopefully when the weather lets up a little we’ll see some more Trout and Drum.

It was a youth day this past weekend, and of course Barrett had great luck! Barrett and Jackson came home with a pretty stringer of ducks from Hyde County.

Don’t forget we have live minnows if you’re headed out to do any freshwater fishing. There have been a few Perch caught along with Crappie and Bass!
