Offshore from Oregon Inlet
Corolla to Nags Head Surf
Corolla to Nags Head Sound

We have some more beautiful weather forecasted over the next couple of days, and the fishing should be heating up. We have been getting reports of good fishing from up and down the beach already today!

Surf fishing has been off to a slower start this year, but it looks like things are finally getting going. We have heard reports of scattered Puppy Drum from down on Ocracoke up to Kittyhawk, with a few bigger Drum mixed in on the south side of Cape Point. Caden Flowers from Midlothian, VA caught a  nice 22in Puppy Drum while staying Ocracoke. Andy, 13 years old caught his personal best Drum on Ramp 55. There have been reports of Sea Mullet and Blow Toads from the surf as far north as Rodanthe, as well as a handfull of Big Bluefish, have been caught in Hatteras and Ocracoke. We even have a new leader in our Coastal Angler Series Tournament in the Bluefish category, Glenn Hendricks, with a 23.75” fish! There should be some good Trout fishing here in town over the next two days with the calm conditions!

On the sound side, there has been an increasing number of reports of good Drum fishing near the inlets, the Drum bite should continue to improve over the next week or two. There have been a good number of Trout caught in the sound here locally and across the sound on the west side.

We haven’t heard much from offshore, but there should be some boats out fishing over the next couple of days.

This weekend marked the start of youth Turkey hunting season. 10 year old Quinn harvested his first turkey this past Saturday on a public land hunt! 23.5 lbs, 10” thick beard, and 1 1/8th” spurs. Way to go Quinn.
