Hatteras Surf

As we predicted, the weather made for slower fishing conditions midweek, but luckily we’re finally starting to see the fishing pick back up!

Lots of anglers are hitting the beach and we’re hearing reports of Sea Mullet, Drum, and Sharks from the surf. Further south seems to be producing more consistent fishing. Lots of Drum are being caught including a few Big Drum, Puppy Drum and Black Drum. There’s been some Speckled Trout as well. The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Surf Fishing Tournament is still going and some teams have been racking up lots of points on fish near Cape Point!

Speckled Trout continue to be caught soundside with the majority of reports coming from the Little Bridge and a few scattered around Manns Harbor.
Only a few offshore boats have gone out the last few days. Sounds like the Blackfin Tunas are plentiful and a few Dolphins being caught as well. Shout out to our Trusted Captain partner Capt. Chris Gornell on being honored as Captain of the Year at the East West Billfish Tournament Banquet.

We had an exciting catch at the shop this morning. A little critter has been safely rehomed after being wrangled by shop employee Ward! Unfortunately, there isn’t a citation for Opossums, but if there was it’s safe to say this guy was citation sized!
