Tunas, Cobia and Black Drum
May is here and so are the fish!!
Stefan and Quentin have been at it again going after the Tunas! They scored nice citation Blackfins caught on Tuesday on their Jet ski! Wish we could have been there to see the action!
Quentin also joined Capt. Donnie on the DOA and got a beautiful Cobia! It’s Cobia season here now and we can’t wait to see more of these local’s favorite fish! The nearshore fishing for Black Drum has been pretty steady as well! @stefanturko @quentin_turko @doacharters.
The Bluefish and the Puppy have been showing up in good numbers this week from the surf and piers. We’ve seen all sizes of Bluefish with nice sized ones being caught all along the beaches. The Puppy Drum are around as well! There have been good reports of Sea Mullet, a few Blowtoads and scattered Pompano on the southern beaches.
The Ocracoke Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament concluded today with the Jersey Rod and Reelers claiming first place. Local team Nags Head Surf Fishing Club came in a close second with Island Life Realty Fishing Team coming in third place. Congrats to all the anglers and the top scoring teams!
Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, and Mahi are all converging on Oregon Inlet. The Offshore fishing is and will be heating up in the coming months! The @afishionadocharters has had some excellent days fishing while the @finplannersportfishing has also retuned to the docks with nice catches of fish! A crew from Barnhill had a great day on the water with Bi-Op-Sea!
