Surf Fishing Report:
The wind is light and the water is calm and clear. The wind is SW at 10 and the water temp is 66 degrees. Should be good Bluefish and some Trout today. Bluefish likes clear water because they feed by site. When the water is clear they can be caught on jiggers. Bluefish can be caught on cut bait and bottom rigs when the water is cloudy. Pier fishermen fish with “Got-chas”. Fishermen can keep 15 Bluefish per person a day and only 5 Bluefish greater than 24 in TL. There is no minimum size limit. There were Bluefish and Drum caught yesterday and some Flounder at Coquina beach.
I have pictures of Shark caught the last couple of days. I have to admit; I have a terrible time identifying Sharks when someone writes in and ask. They all look alike to me. I have the guys in the store to keep me honest. I do know when I have caught a Dogfish. Douglas Huber caught his from the Avalon pier and fought for 1 ½ hrs before he got it to the beach.
Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported lots of Trout this morning.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: 4 Drum early, big whopper Drum school came by recently, everyone hooked up but no catches. Also, Bluefish and Croaker. Lots of Bait in the water.
Nags Head: Blues, Trout and Spot.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, Trout, Black Drum and Pigs
Outer Banks: Good run of Blues and Black Drum.
Inshore Boats/Nearshore Report:
One inshore had great returns with Puppy Drum and specks.
Offshore Boats Report:
Few boats sailed yesterday, but the fishing was good. They brought in Dolphin, Yellowfin, Blackfin, and False Albacore. Ten Wahoo were caught, one citation 63 pounder. Released a Blue Marlin.
