Joint Presentation With Outsider Artist and Congo Rainforest Preservation Founder: Dino and Godi
In 1982, Tio Dino (R Dean DeBoer) went to the Congo with Habitat For Humanity to teach a tribe how to build with cinderblock. Three years later he returned to Chapel Hill, followed by the chief’s grandson who came to learn auto-mechanics, a trade to bring back to the Congo.
But he stayed and the two became very close, calling each other father and son.
In 2012, Godi Godar (Moteke Molanga) established a non-profit organization, Go Conscious Earth, and was able to protect one million acres of rainforest and establish perpetual rights for the sustenance of his people.
Dino and Godi will be speaking at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks (UUCOB). Dino will speak about his unique art which will be on display and for sale at UUCOB for 4 months. His work is a whimsical expression of his fantastic imagination in many colors on wood. Godi will give a visual presentation about his foundation. They both will add to the music during the service and Dino will read some of his poetry.
The public is welcome to attend. The service starts at 10:30 and the presentation should begin at 11:00, followed by a reception and a Q&A period. The UUCOB Meetinghouse is located at the corner of Kitty Hawk and Herbert Perry Roads.
