Celebrate More Than 400 Years of History

By Amelia Boldaji | Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Roanoke Island Festival Park brings more than 400 years of history to life. At the Adventure Museum, dress up like a pirate, test your cargo loading strength or try your hand at computer programs and quizzes that sort through theories about the fate of the Lost Colony. Explore more than 25 acres of the site, complete with a state-of-the-art pavilion that hosts spectacular events and weddings, marshside boardwalks, soundside piers and docks and fossil pits for hours of fun digging for sharks teeth.

Wander back in time as you trek through the wooded paths that lead you to the majestic Elizabeth II. Along the way you’ll encounter American Indian Town and a Settlement Site that’s styled after one of the first English military encampments in North America. Here, you can interact with costumed interpreters who help you experience history firsthand. It’s a journey of a lifetime!
