Holiday magic all year round is the premise at The Christmas Shop and General Store in Manteo where, for more than 50 years, a magical multitude of Christmas ornaments, trees and decorations have decked their halls.
The gift that keeps on giving, though, is that the store has so much fun shopping to offer on top of their Christmas selections. The Christmas Shop and General Store has grown so much over the course of 50 years that your first stop upon entering is to get a map! Come along and explore for a true shopping adventure.
Souvenirs and Gifts
Coastal home decor, soaps, lotions, jewelry and items for spoiling your pet are just some of the souvenirs and gifts you can find while shopping here. As you explore the rooms full of treasures, you’ll also find candles, artwork, kitchen goods and so much more. Stuffed animals and a good selection of toys will appeal to the kids. Staff can also put together personalized gift baskets.
Food, Wine and Wine Classes
One of the best parts of a vacation is interesting food and wine, and you’ll find loads of both here. Some of the General Store’s vacation-worthy snacks include locally made candies, coffees, jellies and jams.
They also feature plenty of local wines from wineries such as Duplin, Sanctuary Vineyards (an Outer Banks-area winery) and Biltmore Winery, and wine-knowledgeable staff can help with any questions.
Wine classes for up to eight participants are offered Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. for $15 per person. Each tasting features six wines and has a different theme, with repeating themes each week. The General Store serves a full menu of wines by the glass, wine flights and beer and cider by the can.
All the Holiday Fun
Christmas isn’t the only holiday represented here – there are decorations and souvenirs for all the holidays. Prepare for some jump scares in their Halloween section, which is filled with autumnal decor and loads of animatronic Halloween spookiness.

From hobbies and characters to school mascots and Outer Banks scenes, you can find the perfect holiday ornament for everyone on your list. All ornaments can be personalized free of charge.
