Long before our doors opened and the first bottle was poured, there was Buffalo City, North Carolina — a once-thriving community tucked deep within the wild landscape of East Lake.
Buffalo City may no longer appear on today’s maps the way it once did, but its stories, its people, and its place in local history deserve to be remembered.
That history has always been woven into who we are.
From the beginning, Buffalo City Distillery — now BCD Distillery — was created with a deep appreciation for the land and stories that shaped this corner of North Carolina. Our name, our spirits, and the stories we share have all been influenced by the history of Buffalo City and East Lake.
As we move forward as BCD Distillery, we’re not leaving that history behind.
We’re continuing to honor it.
Through the names on our bottles, the stories told inside our distillery, and the conversations shared over a glass, we hope to keep a small piece of Buffalo City alive — while paying tribute to the generations who called this area home.
Because places don’t disappear when their stories are still being told.
