We’re getting August started off right. Earlier in the week we found some nice dolphin, and there are still plenty of tilefish around. The floating grass that usually holds dolphin has been pretty scarce since the Sunday/Monday blow, but we’re hoping it returns soon.
The billfishing is definitely starting to heat up. Yesterday was one of our best days in a while. We probably raised 20 or more fish, releasing 8 sailfish and 5 white marlin. Today we had a little tougher luck holding onto them, but we still released a blue marlin and one of two white marlin. We also pulled the hooks on three sailfish. That’s just part of billfishing. We’ll get another shot at them tomorrow.
The weather looks great as far out as I can see, so hopefully we’ll be able to keep the momentum going. Back at it tomorrow.
