The North Carolina Aquariums are studying the movements of sand tiger sharks off the state’s coast. Acoustic receivers placed at Cape Hatteras shipwreck sites by our scientific divers collect information about tagged marine species, including sand tiger sharks.
When the receivers are retrieved, the stored data helps our conservation scientists understand more about these vulnerable sharks and how they use these critical habitats. Data from other tagged animals is also shared with researchers along the Atlantic coast.
