Winds are SW at 10 knots and there's some patchy cloud cover. High tide 7:47 a.m. and 8:03 p.m. Low 1:38 p.m.

🐎 The Wild Horses of Corolla — A Living Piece of OBX History

Did you know the wild horses in Corolla have been roaming the northern Outer Banks for centuries? These Colonial Spanish Mustangs are descendants of shipwrecked horses from the 1500s — and they’re now one of the rarest horse breeds in the world.

Today, only around 100 horses remain, protected across 7,500 acres of 4x4-accessible beach. They travel in small family groups called harems and survive off native vegetation — so feeding or approaching them is not only dangerous, it’s illegal.

These horses are tough, wild, and uniquely Outer Banks — and seeing them in person is truly unforgettable.
